Prayers and Peppermint Coffee

Can you believe that it's already July? This year has flown. It seems like we just put away the Christmas decorations in our house. Well, that may be a little bit of an exaggeration, but we still have leftover peppermint coffee in the cupboard.

Whether 2013 is racing before your very eyes or moving along at a more leisurely pace, I hope you get to take time to enjoy Independence Day. And, if you would, join me in prayer for our nation.

Heavenly Father, thank You for blessing us to live in this beautiful country. Let us not take our freedoms and liberties for granted, but to instead use them to further your glory. We pray for our nation's leaders, asking you to grant them wisdom.

Give us courage to speak Your Word to those who are lost, broken, and hurting. When we meet with those who would lash out at Your teachings, show us how to respond with compassionate wisdom and discernment instead of reciprocating anger. We thank You that as Christians, our true freedom and independence come from a relationship with Your Son. In Jesus' name we pray. Amen.

Join me on Wednesday at my publisher's blog Just The Write Charisma, where, in spirit with July 4th, I'll be discussing the independent nature of the writer. Happy Independence Day!

What are your plans for July 4th?
